Bali International Stickfighting Challenge
On November 9 , 2013,the Combined Martial Arts Academy ( CMAA) and BSF Asia ( BSF ) jintly held a tournament of martial arts arnis sticks / Eskrima Stick named the Bali International Fighting Challenge .
Although this is an event for practitioners of Arnis / Eskrima but this tournament is open to and attended by some practitioners of other martial arts such as martial arts , karate and mixed martial arts ( mixed martial arts ) . Some participants noted that background martial martial arts took part in this tournament , they are of college Stick Indonesian Masters . Not to forget of course the practitioners of Arnis / Eskrima Jakarta and its surroundings from clubs Casasai Indonesia , Nusantara Eskrima , Eskrima and Fangs Mahardikka participate enliven this tournament . Were 23 athletes in the tournament for the first time held by the cooperation between the BSF and the CMAA . One thing that is surprising is that 5 of the 6 people who represent BSF Bali are deaf / speech impaired part of BSF’s Special Needs Martial Arts program that includes Blind Judo. CMAA Jakarta itself was represented by 6 athletes .
The tournament bagan with a technical meeting on November 8 , 2013, in which the activities are carried out the introduction and explanation of the rules used in the tournament which refers to the rules CDPWF ( Cacoy Doce Pares World Federation ) and WEKAF ( World Eskrima – Kali – Arnis Federation) . The scoring system in this rule refers to the ” 10 point must system ” in which the winner is determined by the aggressive fighter , dominance and variation techniques and parry attacks during the fight . In this system the winner will get a score of 10 and his opponent get a value between 7-9 .
Branches that competed in this event is Sparring Single Stick , Double and Single Stick Sparring Sticks Kulata . At each event, the participants are divided by age group as follows :
– Junior Level 1 ( 11-16 )
– Junior Level 2 ( 17-20 )
– Men Level 1 ( 21-29 )
– Men Level 2 ( 30-39 )
– Senior ( 40-60 )
On a single branch and double stick sparring fighters wear armor and other protective gear , including helmets , elbow protectors , protective sleeves , gloves , protective groin and knee protectors . In this branch is divided into 3 round bout where each round lasts for 1 minute breaks interspersed with pauses for 30 seconds .
While in the Kulata Division , the fighters do not use armor but still required to wear other safety gear , especially a helmet . At this branch , there is only one round in each game . In both of the event , if the jury decides that the result is a draw then one additional round will be contested to determine the winner .
Although this match was the first time for most of the participants , but it did not dampen their spirit in matches . Begins promptly at 9 am on 9 November 2013 , the tournament was opened from single stick sparring branch at level 1 Junior age group , followed by level 2 junior age groups , men and seniors .
In the category of single stick sparring , in the junior age group level 1 , Gareth Leach of CMAA Jakarta finally won the gold medal after defeating Deaf Mute athletes from BSF Bali , Dewa Ari had to be satisfied with the silver medal . Dewa Ari , one of the deaf / mute , had a very good showing for himself considering he has had less than three months to know and practice the sport which is very new to him .
In the junior age group level 2 , Fathun Ni’am of Canes beat Nyoman Master Poets of BSF Bali in the final round and managed to earn the gold medal . For both, this is the first tournament they follow . Nyoman writer , as well as Ari is one of Gods athletes with speech impaired / deaf indicating that the physical deficiency is not a barrier to achieving a proud achievement .
Men in the age group level 1 , Allan Darmasaputra of Eskrima Nusantara won the gold medal after defeating Ahmad Faisal capable of Mahardikka Eskrima . For Allan and Faisal , though this is the first tournament for them , they managed to show the appearance of the plume.
In a tight battle , men in the age group level 2 , Idi Tindianto of CMAA Jakarta managed to beat his team-mate , Kieran Lambert and won the gold medal . Both are mainstays CMAA athletes who have enough experience and achievement in a variety of similar international tournaments .
Meanwhile , in the senior age group , Chris Rowe of CMAA Jakarta finally won a gold medal after going through a pretty fierce battle with Dodit Setyohadi of Mahardikka Eskrima .
On the occasion of a lunch break , the participants of the Master Stick opportunity to demonstrate their ability to combine multiple martial arts techniques from various branches such as Silat , Karate and Taekwondo and get a pretty rousing welcome from the participants .
The match resumed in the category of double stick sparring . Out as a gold medalist in the junior age group level 1 is god Ari while silver medals won by Komang Satriawan are also derived from the CMAA / BSF Bali . Of the junior age group level 2 , the gold medalist is Nyoman Poets of CMAA / BSF Bali after defeating Gareth Leach of CMAA Jakarta . Men in the age group level 1 , Kieran Lambert defeated Fathun Ni’am and won the gold medal after a tight battle . From the age group level 2 download , Idi Tindianto back the gold medal after defeating Made Suwidiartha of CMAA / BSF Bali .
From Kulata category , the number one most anticipated by all participants , came out as a gold medalist from the junior age group is god Ari after successfully through some grueling matches and finally able to beat Allan Darmasaputra who had to settle for second .
While the age group Men , came out as a gold medalist is Adinur Boediono of Fangs after defeat in the final round of Gautama Arry Casasai Indonesia in a tense battle at the same time cover all series of the game .
The event closed with the distribution of certificates by a committee represented by Taufik Nandipinto of CMAA Jakarta . The important thing to note from this event is that the participants were very enthusiastic and hopeful that a similar event could be held on a regular basis each year as a competition forum for practitioners of martial arts sticks in Indonesia.
