Countdown to the 1st Bali ParaGames
Between Thursday 11 and Sunday 14 July 2013 at venues in Denpasar and Sanur will be held Bali’s first Paragames. The theme of the Paragames is Access Bali, as we want the games to make Bali and Indonesia more accessible for the disabled and their families and carers.
The Bali Paragames are being organised by the registered Indonesian charity, Yayasan Damai Olahraga Bal/BSF Asia (hereafter BSF), which was founded in 2009 to use sports to change lives, particularly for the disabled and the disadvantaged.
In the first year the Bali Paragames will include 8 sports: swimming, athletics, blind soccer, badminton, chess, wheelchair basketball, powerlifting and table tennis. The emphasis will be on competing and fair play, not just winning.
The games will be held at Bali International School, with the best facilities on Bali and Lapangan Kompyang Sujana in Denpasar.
One of the Paragames two Ambassadors is the inspiring young Balinese woman and Indonesian representative at the London Paralympics in 2012, Ni Nengah Widiasih, who can power lift more than twice her body weight.
The Bali Paragames has been made possible by many sponsors, including our major sponsor, the Annika Linden Centre, part of Inspirasia.
BSF is privileged to announce that Alphonsus Chia from Singapore, will be holding a chess master class during the Bali Paragames, on the afternoon of Friday 11 May 2013 at Bali Internation School (BIS).
